Comfort Quilts

Comfort quilts can be simple patterns, and don’t need to be labour intensive. It’s a great way to use up some of your stash for a good cause.

Yes, we recommend the following quilt sizes for donations:

• Hospice Bed: 63" x 80"
• Neonatal: 36" x 36"
• Crib: 34-36" x 48"
• Wheelchair: 36" x 48"
• Lap/Nap Quilt: 40" x 55-60"

Yes. Comfort Quilts should have adequate quilting to withstand industrial washing machines, with no more than a 4” gap between lines of quilting.

Fidget Quilts and Comfort Quilts require a guild label attached flat, without loops, to prevent any potential hazards. Labels are available from the guild at in-person meetings or events.

A Quilt Bee is a guild-organized event where members gather to sew and create quilts for donation. The guild provides pre-cut kits, materials, and patterns, allowing members to focus on sewing and assembling quilts. It's an opportunity to contribute to community service while socializing and collaborating with fellow quilters.

The Quilt Bee is typically held in the Spring, details will be on our Calendar and in The Quill.

Yes! The Quilt Bee Committee has kits available free for members for making simple quilt tops, and they can provide you with batting, backing and fabric for binding to finish off a Comfort Quilt.

Yes. The guild gladly accepts donations of quilting cotton and other materials, which are used to create kits for Quilt Bees and other projects. Members interested in donating materials can bring them to guild meetings or contact the Quilt Bee Committee for more information.
